Ecstatic dance is a free-form, intentional movement practice. There are no steps to follow and no choreography. It is not about performance, looking cool, or doing it “right.” It’s about tuning in, listening to your body, and allowing the music to dance you.

In order to create an environment that cultivates presence, we agree to leave the following off the dance floor:

• talking

• substances

• phones/technology

• judgment

• touching or dancing with others without their consent

• shoes

Cacao is an ancient, gentle medicine used to open the heart and connect with divine love. Participants will be guided through a ceremonial cacao circle prior to dancing.

Kids Are Welcome

This event is created with adults in mind, but kids are welcome! We’ll have art supplies and quiet activities around the perimeter of the dance floor, and kids are invited to dance with us or play nearby.

We don’t expect kids to be silent, but we do want to preserve an intentional, meditative space for everyone. Please use your best judgment about whether this environment will work for your child, and step out with them if they need a break or more active attention.

There is no dedicated childcare, so parents and caregivers are responsible for supervising their children throughout the event.

You’re welcome to join us for the full cacao circle, dance, and closing meditation, or simply come just for the dance.

Evening Flow

5:45-6:00: Arrival

6:00-6:30: Cacao Circle 

6:30-7:30: Dance 

7:30-7:45: Final Resting Meditation

7:45-8:00: Closing Circle 

Registration

Pre-registration is required so Maggie can prepare the correct amount of cacao.

Registration closes at 4:00pm the day of the dance.
