Altar Making as a Creative and Spritual Practice
Saturday, March 22nd, 2025
1:00-4:00pm EST
Virtual Event
An altar is a portal, a gateway into the spirit realm. An altar not only marks the space between the material and the metaphysical, it is a physical representation of the spiritual connection you are seeking. When an altar is created and activated with clear intentions, it can lead to deeper and more personal connection with the unseen world. Altars are like an island in a vast sea; a physical location that we can visit to ground ourselves and feel into our own power and expansiveness. They can remind us of our core values, of the magic and meaning within the everyday, and of our own agency to live in alignment with our highest Self. Atar-making as a creative and spiritual practice is empowering, invigorating, and inspiring. It’s like a puzzle with infinite possibilities, but you’ll know exactly when you’ve solved it. It’s artistic while being accessible, more like creating a collage than an original painting. You don’t need any special materials to make an altar, but you will never look at objects the same way after making a few. Whether you’ve never made an altar or want to deepen and expand your current practice, you will leave this workshop with practical, unique and customizable tools to jumpstart or uplevel your altar-making game. In this virtual, hands-on workshop you will learn about the history of altars and see incredible examples of altars from across the world and throughout time. You will be guided through intuitive practices designed to ignite your creativity and passion and help to generate ideas. You will be given independent work time to create your altar and will have the opportunity to share and give and receive feedback. You will also learn ways to activate your altar so that it truly can become a bridge to the spirit realm; a magickal portal for your prayers and invocations. Workshop Theme: Spring Equinox We will draw inspiration from the earth and the cosmos, centering our practice around the Vernal Equinox. Prepare to create an altar that honors the natural balance of this time of year, marking the dawn of spring, season of rebirth. Your altar will reflect the dreams you’ve been incubating during these long winter months, serving as a vessel to support you as you birth them to reality this spring season and beyond.

Staring at a blank canvas or page can be intimidating and sometimes paralyzing: knowing where and how to begin is a huge hurdle that can prevent us from expressing ourselves. But if we view creativity not as something we have but as something that moves through us, all we need to do is open ourselves to that creative flow and the rest will happen organically.
